It is disheartening that the Indian government once again decided to bailout a failed psu undertaking but it isn’t surprising. What pisses me off is a complete lack of protest from the tax payers. On one side we have corporate behemoths which show scant respect for worker rights and benefits, real estate mafias who make it impossible for the average kumar to afford living space and on the other side we have public sector undertakings that want to eat and eat more of the tax payer money. Don’t folks in India realize that every ineffective public sector undertaking is a debilitating disease on India’s attempt at social progress. How can the country give you social security and cost free primary education when your money is being used to support these fanciful undertakings. It is hightime socialists and the survivalists in the country get their collective butts out from the clutches of these “government aided workers” and put their weight behind projects aimed at developing the country’s infrastructure. We are already a nation whose growth aspirations are stifled by the corrupt bureaucracy , add to this the criminal negligence of duty by staff at public sector undertakings, from where do we find the resources to keep the nation moving, how do we ensure that the next generation has a future to look upto. I have flown AI in many of it’s internatinal routes quite a few times and i stopped taking AI when the last AI flight i took made abnormal squeaky noises during take off ,prompting quite scary glances at each other from the passengers. To me that India “runs – chalta hai” is proof that there are powers beyond us that takes care of us, but that is not a justification to tempt fate like this.
There is one class that requires bailout in India that is the hardworking middleclass that works in the private sector who runs the country’s economy, who allow babus the ability to purchase private jets , who silently carry the burden of making life possible in a horrendously disorganized corner of the world, who pays taxes to run the government , who pays the netas their hundi , who pays the government servants to become their masters.
Half million workers in Indias BPO,Pharma and IT and Gem Industry lost jobs during the past six months, and another million will lose it in the next six months, what has the babus and netas got for these folks? . Isn’t it this class that made “India Shining” a possibility. What do they get?. They need bailouts and what they need is not free money , but government funded projects, it could be for example an information manamagement system that takes care of motor vehicle registration and licensing system , it could be a health care program aimed at developing cheap nutritional products for the underprivileged,
it could be an alternate energy initiative combining wind, sea or solar power, there is a lot of things that can be done with the money that government intents to pump into AI which will help recover the nations economy and which will help the hundreds of thousands of people who made it possible for AI to imagine that it is possible to get the government to bailout shoddiness. Enough of collectively buttressing inefficiency ,what we need is a collective effort at rectifying a screwed up system. Ground India is what needs it’s rightly deserved bailout!
